Today’s retail bail agent faces a myriad of obstacles to maintaining market share. These difficulties are a direct result of an increase in competition among both the agents and insurance companies, continued inroads by government funded programs, mandated jail caps, higher bond schedules, and a riskier book of business from which to choose. With over 100 years of combined bail experience, our staff has the expertise to help overcome these challenges. Between the two of us, we have experience in virtually every level of the business. Our backgrounds include retail agent and store owner, state and multi-state agent and vice presidents in charge of bail for one of the largest bail writers in the United States. In 1986 we agreed to combined our experience., and form Underwriters Surety, Inc. (USI). This allowed us the opportunity to negotiate a contract to represent an insurance company on a nationwide bail program.

USI has represented National American Insurance Company as their exclusive Bail Managing General Agent since 1990. In 1993, we acquired American Surety Company (ASC). We purchased this company with one purpose in mind, writing bail bonds. At that time, ASC was licensed only in California. We now have expanded our coverage to in 30 states (with several states pending), and we still specialize in bail bonds. Because of our extensive backgrounds at all levels of bail, we understand the problems you face on a daily basis. This understanding allows us to work with you in ways other companies cannot, or will not.

We sincerely believe in making this industry stronger, and we stay actively involved in all levels: national company organizations; national, state and local agent organizations; as well as, working closely with groups such as ALEC and victims groups in fighting liberal, taxpayer funded release policies.
